HR Director of 2016

The panel will select a HR leader who has made a key contribution to the development and delivery of HR strategy in the Francophone Africa region during 2015/16, in either the public, private or NFP sectors, within and beyond their business.

Judges will look for:

  • A HR leader operating at a senior level making a telling contribution to people in their business and the organisation as a whole. This will include examples of best practice, innovation and strategic development, with a strong focus on and relevance to the particular needs of the Francophone Africa region.
  • A clear narrative that demonstrates how the HR leader is having an impact on the HR function and the wider business. The scale of the business in Francophone Africa will be taken into account.
  • Evidence of success: how has your HR leader strengthened the organisation? Please include metrics, case studies and examples. Judges will consider feedback from customers and its origin.

 

HR Team of 2016

This award recognises HR teams from the public, private and NFP sectors within Francophone Africa, for their efforts within the function and their collaboration with other functions. The entry can include specific projects and also highlight the function’s collaborative approach and ability to recruit and develop excellent HR talent. Examples of work which deals with particular needs or issues in Francophone Africa will be helpful.

Judges will look for:

  • A clearly differentiated and innovative approach to HR provision in the Francophone Africa region, focused on both strategic approach and people as individuals. As context for your entry, please include information on the scale of the team, resources available and the business environment you operate in.
  • A clear narrative demonstrating the impact the team is having across functions and the wider business.
  • Evidence of success: how has your team strengthened the organisation? Please include metrics, case studies and examples. Judges will consider feedback from customers and its origin.

 

People-Focused Business Leader of 2016

This award recognises Francophone Africa’s most inspirational, engaging business leader, who has empowered the people in their organisation to deliver an exceptional vision in an Francophone African context. The nomination can include examples, anecdotes, initiatives and evidence to highlight the leader’s exceptional people-focus.

 

Talent Pool Impact 2016

This award recognises an initiative or development which has significantly and positively impacted the organisation’s relationship with the Francophone African talent pool, in terms of brand amplification, talent acquisition, regionalised employer value proposition, engagement or CSR. The category has a particularly broad scope, with the focus on the quality and regional specificity of the initiative, rather than its type.

Judges will look for:

  • An innovative talent strategy that addresses an important Francophone Africa-focused business issue
  • Clear evidence that the initiative has made a difference to the organisation’s impact on the Francophone African talent pool
  • A clear narrative that demonstrates how the initiative is having an impact on the organisation
  • Evidence of success: how it has impacted the Francophone African talent pool and the organisation’s position within it? Please use metrics, anecdotes and case studies. Judges will look for return on investment and the impact the initiative has made since implementation, while prioritising regional specificity.

 

Diversity and Inclusion Award 2016

This award recognises an organisation in Francophone Africa that has diversity and inclusion at the core of the business, providing outstanding support and opportunities to women, people from the LGBTI community, disabled people and other minorities. The winner will see business as the key agent in diversifying the Francophone African workforce to unlock its full potential.

Judges will look for:

  • A clear narrative explaining why the diversity and inclusion strategy was introduced and how it is linked to wider business strategy
  • Information from the organisation's diversity and inclusion statistics, including how these are evaluated
  • Information on the strategy's implementation, communications and impact, please use metrics, anecdotes, employee/customer feedback and case studies
  • Evidence of how the diversity and inclusion strategy aims to contribute to the wider unlocking of the region’s potential, and the impact this is having.
